Friday October 23rd at Neighborhood Comedy Theatre
This week’s stories are from storyteller Alexis McKenzey:
Alexis hails from the land of Old Bay Seasoning, spent a few years in the land of Dead
Presidents and Overpriced Rent, had a midlife crisis-at 35, and pitched her wagon west to
Arizona.
Raised by Comcast, her first language is movie quotes and & 80s music. Give her a margarita and
she will reenact the "Careless Whisper" video shot for shot, providing color commentary,
costume analysis, and a post-game breakdown.
Alexis sees her life like channel surfing on a blizzard day in Baltimore. Sometimes you catch a
movie or episode from the beginning, sometimes you land in the middle and you try to figure out
“Why is Carrie going back to Big—again?” Either way, there are plot twists, recurring
characters, cliffhangers, and more than a few episodes that should have been on pay-per-view or
the scrambled channel.
Alexis shared her stories with Female Storytellers, The Black Women in Comedy Festival,
Tucson Improv Movement, audiences in DC, and unwilling co-workers.
In 2025, she won the Tempe Public Library writing contest-Adult Non-fiction category.
She loves football, football players, and wants to marry John Wick or Tom Brady during the
Super Bowl halftime show.
The Main Street Comedy Show is a popular event and reservations are strongly recommended.
