A Native of Caracas, Venezuela Ivan came to the US in 1980 to pursue education. Attended Coe Collegein Cedar Rapids Iowa (English as a second language), Kirkwood Community College also in Cedar Rapids (AA Pre-business) and University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls (BA Marketing and
Advertising, MBA Marketing Management) 22 years career in newspapers working in advertising sales, new product development and
digital media. Des Moines Register, 1989 to 1997, Yakima Herald Republic 1997-2000, Seattle
Times 200-2003 and Arizona Republic 2003-2007
Taught photography at Grand Canyon University from 2012 to 2019
