Anthony Thornton

Anthony Thornton

In addition to rocking your socks of with his amazing improv skills, Anthony is an accomplished and hilarious stand-up comic. Anthony has performed all over Arizona and California and, really, those are two of the most important states there are. Anthony is also a big fan of 1990s cartoon shows. He pretty much spends all his time at NCT, however, when not here you wont find him, because he is at home playing video games. He is a giant star wars nerd.

Dan McGivern

Dan McGivern

What can be written about Dan McGivern that has not already been written about the ocean? Both are beautiful, mysterious, and deep; yet both also hide dangers beneath the surface. For centuries, both Dan and the ocean have possessed an allure that has drawn countless men to adventure. Mighty empires have risen and fallen based on their ability to control both Dan and the ocean, just as countless nations have drawn sustenance from the vast stocks of fish that each contains. Yet, no man has yet been able to tame either.

Both Dan and the ocean began studying improv as students in Washington State. Both were showered with renown and acclaim as members of the second-finest university-based improv group in Washington State, Gonzaga University Theatre Sports. Both Dan and the ocean are lawyers by training, but have shunned the buttoned-down life of the litigator in favor of becoming a vast series of ecosystems that support a dizzying array of plant an animal life, and whose currents of warm and cold water have created the earth’s climates and weather patterns. Perhaps most crucially, Dan and the ocean are both the cradle from which life on this planet first emerged.

×

John

John “Johnny Keys” Smetek

Johnny “Keys” Smetek was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised by The Sisters of Mercy until he was 4 months old. His older sister told everybody on the block that they were, “getting a baby Johnny” so that’s how he got his name. His first piano teacher was Mr. Levine. His first song on the piano was “The Speed Boat”. Since then John has been searching for an audience. He has attempted most musical genres and he still can’t decide which one he wants to zero in on. Before coming to NCT he has played for Kings and Queens and to the lowest life swill you can imagine. He has been acclaimed by many and been thrown out of some of the most prestigious towns in America. NCT has been a home to him for 5 years. He can’t think of a better place to call home.
×

Jordan Collier

Jordan Collier

Jordan moved to Arizona from New York City where he dabbled in Improv and acting throughout the city. Originally from a town in Indiana that nobody has ever heard of. He loves his wife( who also graces the NCT stage), his children( CATS not kids), and being apart of such an awesome group of comedians!

×

Joshua Cox

Paul Brocollo

Paul Brocollo

Paul was born sometime in the late Seventies. He has one older brother and is also one of three in set triplets. With all that sibling competition he was always trying to find away to get his parents approval. Having failed horribly at music (unlike the “other three”) he had to find another way to disappoint his parents and went into theater. Paul took his first improv course at the Mesa Arts Center and has a love affair with improv ever since! Paul is a graduate from ASU with a BA in Theater with an emphasis on performance and a minor in theatre for youth/early childhood education. That’s not true, I never finished my minor. I just put that on resumes for ‘real world’ jobs. After graduating from College, Paul moved to LA so he could really know what it’s like to be the working poor. He also immerses himself in the Second City Experience. He graduated from The Second City Conservatory in October 2005 with the show Intelligent Design, Uncut followed by ‘Area 54” and was part of Second City’s grad performance troupe American Standard (2006-2009). After participating in many other troupes and a few improv festivals (that’s how you ‘network’) Paul moved back to the valley of the Sun in 2009 and joined NCT and has been part of this family ever since!
×

Robert Fata

Robert Fata

Robert has over 10 years of comedy experience. He’s done sketch at ASU comedy, and stand-up sets all over the country. He has a BS in biochemistry, which isn’t funny, but is still pretty impressive. Born in New York City, and raised in a desert, Robert has no idea what he wants in a city, climate, or meal. When he’s not performing improv at NCT, you can probably find him arguing about super heroes with his friends at game night, or rolling for a new character in Dungeons & Dragons. So at least he has role-playing experience.

×

Shannon McGivern

Shannon McGivern

Shannon was raised in the mysterious land of Montana, where the word “improv” is probably considered to be too liberal, and therefore never spoken. After moving to Arizona in 2014, she began taking improv classes at NCT as a way to meet fun people and trick them into thinking she was cool too. It worked!! They still don’t know the horrible truth…

Some likes: all animals with fur, hot weather, mochas, movies, cartoons, comics, anything British
Some dislikes: being cold.

×

Shepsut Wilson

Shepsut Wilson

Shepsut brings her own brand of sunshine to the stage. Hailing from the big apple, it’s no surprise that her tenacious outlook and drive has landed her at NCT.

You can see her on stage or on the big screen in various commercials and films such as “Refuse,” “Aunties,” and the CW6 tv show “Politics in the Yard.”
She loves salted caramel, raccoons and boogie boarding at the beach.

Shep continues to encourage others to embrace opportunities and pursue their passions by releasing fear and spreading the value and infectious ability of a warm smile.

Live easy, laugh hard!
×

Tricia Mahler

Tricia Mahler

Tricia is a Phoenix native who uses her television addiction to avoid the sun. She graduated from ASU in 2008 with a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing (Fiction) and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. So, naturally, she has an unrelated day job. She’s also very aware that she looks younger than she actually is and does not need to hear that compliment anymore. She came to the team after taking NCT’s improv workshops and is still working on being a louder human being.
